In accordance with the licence terms, we acknowledge NZTA as the source of this data. For official and authoritative vehicle registration statistics, please visit nzta.govt.nz.

Accuracy & Limitations of Data

While we take care to present NZTA data accurately, users should be aware of the following limitations:

  • Data is updated monthly, following NZTA's own publication schedule. Figures presented on this site may not reflect vehicle registrations processed after the most recent update date.
  • Statistics reflect NZTA's records at the time of publishing and may be subject to retrospective revision by NZTA.
  • Data granularity is by calendar month. Figures may not capture intra-month fluctuations or registrations that span reporting periods.
  • Aggregations, calculations, summaries, and visualisations displayed on this site are derived from NZTA source data and may differ from figures published directly by NZTA due to differences in methodology, rounding, or data processing.
  • This site does not capture all vehicle types or registration categories that NZTA may record. Users should consult NZTA directly for comprehensive and disaggregated fleet data.
